Anna Hughes in Lotus: group exhibition at Bosse & Baum (13 Oct-25 Nov 2017)

Preview: Thursday 12 October, 6-9pm
Anna Hughes (5-101) is in Lotus: group exhibition at Bosse and Baum, alongside Miriam Austin, Mary Hurrell, Beatrice Loft Schulz, Candida Powell-Williams, Holly White and Wanda Wieser.
"This exhibition offers occult ways to re-imagine history’s flow. Engaging with ideas of tradition, myth, mysticism and the occult, six artists work towards alternative visions of the past and future, offering strategies for making, practicing and performing that re-conceive notions of tradition, deep time and prophecy. Poised precariously between a futuristic utopianism and nostalgic dreams of re-enchantment, these artists establish esoteric solidarities in working and making. In their work, ritual becomes a medium of embodied critique; and repurposed mythology serves to ground new, feminist histories of the self."
Bosse & Baum, Unit BGC, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, London SE15 4ST. Open Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6pm.
