Figure Drawing and Painting Classes with Elina Cerla from 3 October 2017, 6-9pm

Education Space (Unit 2)

For those looking forward to picking up pencils and brushes again, and after a successful Summer Workshop, painter Elina Cerla (TB-260) will be running new figure drawing and painting classes on Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm, in The Education Space (Unit 2).

The ten week course begins on Tuesday 3 October 2017.
Price: £250 (£220 for students, studio-holders, concessions).

The initial focus will be on drawing and some of will move on to oil painting when the foundations of the drawing have been established. Everyone will work at their own pace with continual individual feedback. Elina encourages people to work on their drawing as long as necessary and find that having some drawing and others painting is enriching for everyone. For those who are focusing on their drawing, shorter painting exercises may be gradually introduced so that the connection between drawing and painting becomes clearer. Those with a high level of drawing or those who have worked with Elina before may start to paint sooner.

The first long pose will run over a minimum of seven weeks and each session will begin with shorter warm-up exercises. These long poses allow everyone to really push their skills forward. The last few weeks will be used for a second pose in order to apply these skills over a shorter time-frame and work with a different model. The foundations of drawing and painting will be explored in relation to practical hands-on skills as well as looking at how vision works, examples from art history and aesthetics.

In order to secure a place you will need to pay a deposit of a third of the full cost of the course.
The full amount will be due a week before the start of the classes.
