VISUAL THINKING: The Portrait - Drawing & Painting Summer Workshop (23-27 July 2018)

Thames-Side Studios Education Space (Unit 2)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE CLASSES ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED

Elina Cerla (TB-260) is running a painting and drawing class in the Education Space (Unit 2) from Monday 23-Friday 27 July 2018. Classes are four hours daily, 10am-2pm, suitable for all levels and with a model.

The emphasis will be on learning and developing the technical tools of drawing and painting whilst discussing materials and how vision works, art history and aesthetics, as well as anatomy and perception.

The portrait is a great way to push your drawing and painting forward as the need for structural understanding is what allows you to capture likeness. This then feeds back into your other work including with the figure, still life and abstraction. Emphasis will be placed on strong foundations of drawing but those with more experience may work with oil paint. Fun, rigorous and rewarding practical and theoretical workshops aimed at everyone (from practising artists to beginners) wanting to develop observational tools and gain fluency in the language of figuration.

£170 per workshop
£150 for students, Thames-Side Studios studio-holders, concessions.
