Xenia Demetriou (5-209) and eye4change has organised Differences in Common at Heritage Gallery, University of Greenwich.
Differences in Common is the outcome of a series of community photowalks through the Royal Borough of Greenwich, facilitated by eye4change. One hundred people from a range of backgrounds, abilities and experiences came together, each employing the camera as a tool for creative expression, storytelling and a means to connect, share and increase a sense of belonging. Joining the project with different abilities, perceptions and experiences, these participants shared a common goal of taking in local street scenes and open spaces on a series of enjoyable walks, photographing things often seen, but left unnoticed. By examining the familiar and recognising that which had gone unobserved in any great depth before, the camera bore witness to the experience. Compelling contemplation. Recording the familiar. Distilling the moment on a single frame. Heritage Gallery, University of Greenwich, Queen Anne Court, Old Royal Naval College, London SE10 9LS.
