Anna Reading Tangle Up Exhibition Dates: 11 September-3 October 2021 Tangle Up comprises a collection of wall-based works by sculptor Anna Reading (Unit 0, Studio 0-102). Using modified grotto techniques, Reading accumulates materials into (in)hospitable landscapes, populated with imagined life-forms. Taking inspiration from the harsh but abundant ecologies of coastal landscapes, the works appear inhabited by marine accretions. Rooted in experiences of human vulnerability and exposure, her work foregrounds forms of shelter, synthesis and regeneration within the organic world. Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK (1987) Reading studied MFA Sculpture at Slade School of Fine Art (2017) and held the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award from 2018-2019. Her recent solo exhibition The Pothole, toured the UK to Standpoint Gallery, London (2019), Cross Lane Projects, Kendal (2019) and Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre (2020). She is currently showing as part of Contemporary Sculpture Fulmer 2021 and has a duo exhibition alongside painter Diane Chappalley entitled The Auguries at Informality Gallery in Henley running 26 August-25 September 2021. annareading.co.uk Image: Anna Reading, Super Soaker, wood, plaster, card, shells, gloss paint, putty, 28 x 98 x 12cm, 2020, courtesy the artist Thames-Side Studios Viewing Room is located on the ground floor of Unit 8.
