Ellie Wang

Weighted Observations is a presentation of new paintings by Eleanor Wang (Studio 5-136).

Having entered a new period of parenthood, Eleanor has become fixated on things that are grounded in the present. Paintings of things that are solid and affected by light are supports for Wang to feel full again. Previous depictions of thoughts and occurrences that float in and out of focus are replaced by macro-detailed crops of embroideries and sculptures which become weighted observations of a slowed-down daily life.

“Each of her works can be seen as a record of a life that is both constant and constantly in flux; a reminder of Wang’s own evolution and growth as well as a tool for maintaining a psychological continuity, both as an artist, but also sister, daughter, granddaughter, and [now], mother.” Feliks, Asia.
