Gus Roy
Gus Roy (1944-2024) shared Studio 0-33b from 2013 until September 2020. Organised by Gus's daughter, Hannah Roy-Davies, this exhibition showcases a range of Gus’s work with some pieces available for sale. "This exhibition showcases a range of Gus’s work, some items are for sale and some purely donation. There are pieces of work here that are nearly as old as me (only 25…) and some very recent. There are a mix of paints used, some acrylic and some oil, but all painted and carved by hand. My dad loved every piece of his own work for all very different reasons but was so proud of each piece, I am very proud to display so much of his work which is truly what he would have wanted. My dad Gus was a very eccentric man. He had many lives, he was once a wrestler, chef, comedian, actor and many more, but most importantly an artist. He would often be found in the conservatory or his shed creating re-imagined pieces of artwork from his many favourite artists and also creating his own. He got into sculpting later on in his life when he was at Thames Side Studios, but wood carvings were very much a passion of his. He would also make and re-upholster pieces of furniture in his very own way." - Hannah Roy-Davies, daughter Thames-Side Studios Lounge is located on the second floor of Unit 0 and open to all studio holders and by appointment.
