River is an exhibition of analogue photographic works by members of The Gate Darkroom, a community darkroom situated next to the Thames in Greenwich. Curated by Sarah Ainslie, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of responses by members to the theme of ‘River’ explored through analogue photography. Works are inspired by the river theme both as a presence in the landscape and as a concept, drawing on its transitory nature and the narratives it carries: loss and transition, beginnings and endings, environmental change and generational memory. The exhibition is a moment of collective reflection, a space for members to share work in progress before developing it further towards a larger group show.
