Rachel Spelling The Art of the Exceptional at Fortnum and Mason

During the first lockdown in 2020 decorative artist Rachel Spelling (Studio TB-120) shrank her work and painted 132 miniature murals on the Farrow and Ball colour card.

The work was spotted on Instagram by Farrow and Ball and they commissioned her to paint new miniatures to launch their trend colours, and since then the project has had a life of its own. Work from this project is now on show at Fortnum and Mason, The Art of the Exceptional, and will run until June 19th. The exhibition is a collaboration with QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) and is a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship and the handmade. In 2020 Rachel became a Qest scholar.

Qest is a charity of the Royal Warrant Holders association which supports and sustains vital craft skills and may be interesting to makers at Thame-Side Studios. The next round of applications opens in July and all details are here: www.qest.org.uk

Fortnum and Mason, 3rd floor, 181 Piccadilly, London, W1A 1ER.
Open Monday to Saturday, 10am-7pm, Sunday 11.30am-6pm. Free entry.
