Nicole Polonsky
All are welcome at Mistakes Consistently Throughout, a presentation at MOCA London of a new body of work developed by Nicole Polonsky (Studio HR-150). The exhibition explores latent meaning in an apparently unremarkable cardigan. Knitted for the artist by her mother when she was experiencing mental-health issues, the garment’s uneven tension and dropped stitches embody its maker and her fluctuating states of mind. Specialists in textile conservation, printmaking, knitting and contemporary music offer responses to the garment and its characterful glitches. In turn, visitors are prompted to reflect on how cultural value is assigned, and on human fallibility and resilience – both of which are manifest in the cardigan itself. MOCA London, 113 Bellenden Road, London SE15 4QY. More information about the exhibition and a premiere performance at the opening event at www.moca.london/nicolepolonsky
