Judy Head in Skylark Galleries: Love of Art

Judy Head (7-109) is exhibiting her botanical ink paintings in the OXO Tower Gallery from 31st March to 6th April. This years Easter exhibition is called Love of Art. Judy is a member of Skylark Galleries and one of 23 artists who will be celebrate the 30th anniversary of the gallery in its riverside location at Gabriels Wharf on London's South Bank.

Skylark is run as a collective by the artist members, all of whom contribute to running and managing the physical and on-line galleries as well as external exhibitions including participating in Affordable Art. Amongst the many previous artist members was Talia LeHavi, who introduced Judy to the art of Japanese ink painting and calligraphy, which heavily influences her work. Other Skylark members include print makers, painters, ceramicist and mixed media artists, many of whom exhibit in other exhibitions in the UK and abroad, some of whom have been with the gallery since it was established 30 years ago.

The OXO Tower galleries and Gabriels Wharf is owned by Coin Street Community Builders, a collective of residents and businesses who acquired the site in the 1980's. Gabriels Wharf was dedicated to the arts, with galleries including Skylark, offering affordable workshop and display space to artists and artisans. Sadly, Judy recently learnt that Coin Street has decided to close Gabriels Wharf and clear the site for another project. So this will be their last summer in a physical gallery on South Bank.
