Thanks to everyone that came to our 2019 Open Studios weekend. Thames-Side Studios is the largest single-site studio provider in the UK. With over 500 studios we are home to an impressive array of artists, makers and designers and this is a unique opportunity to meet them, talk about what they do, and to buy directly from their studios. Practices include painting, drawing, fashion design, carpentry, jewellery, millinery, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and installation, tailoring, leather work, picture framing, stained glass making, writing, upholstery, illustration, textiles, condervation and restoration, lutherie, graphic design, furniture design, film and video, skin care, architecture, wood working, laser cutting, clock making, product design, book binding, and much more… Events included workshops, children’s activities, circus arts, live mural painting and film screenings, demonstrations and exhibitions. CREATIVE LUCKY DIP!, was a project entirely run by studio holders, containing at least one original object or artwork. ACTIVITIES SATURDAY 15 Live Mural Painting by Rosie Woods Trinity Wharf Garden Square Saturday, 1-5pm. Free Watch Rosie Woods (5-320) complete a large-scale live mural painting in our garden square. Rosie is a visual and street artist from London whose bold and colourful work treads the line between abstraction and realism. Rosie has scaled buildings across Europe, Indonesia, Australia and America painting her signature style. @itsrosiewoods Screen Printing Workshop with Adam Hogarth Thames-Side Studios Lounge, Unit 0, second floor Saturday, 1-5pm. Free Drop-in and learn to pull a two-colour screen print with Thames-Side Print Studios tutor Adam Hogarth. 30-minute slots available between 1- 5pm. Free to all and no previous experience necessary. Also on display, a printmaking exhibition by Thames-Side Print Studio members and studio holders. Press and Stress-Free Printmaking with Sisetta Zappone Education Space, Unit 2, first floor Saturday, 12.30-2.30pm, Collagraph, and Saturday, 3-5pm, Monoprint. Free Printmaking workshop for all ages using a mix of materials and water-based inks. These workshops are great for beginners and those experienced alike, or just anyone creative wanting to have a go with printmaking techniques. It's a fun and inspiring hands-on course that support participants to experience a range of unconventional processes. Everyone will create their plates and prints using unusual medias. Materials included and you can take your print home. Both workshops are facilitated by an artist printmaker. Create an Augmented Reality Self Portrait with Olga Suchanova and Kelise Franclemont Unit 5, Studio 5-225 Saturday, 12-4pm. Free Olga and Kelise will help you to create fun Augmented Reality 3D portraits of yourself. Suitable for all ages. Free Create a simple pinhole camera using just a can. Participate in Chasing the Sun, a project where pinhole cameras will be left to develop across the site for a period of three months. Jewellery Workshop with Cordelia Stewart Education Space, Unit 2, first floor Sunday, 2-4pm. £4/materials This fun hands-on workshop will introduce you to basic jewellery-making. Learn how to use pliers and tools with an assortment of beads. You’ll produce a funky necklace, bracelet and earrings. Families welcome, age 5+. Children 12+ can be unaccompanied. Drop-in sessions. Free A selection of discarded objects and items, once useful, now disused, dismantled and discarded. Destined for the rubbish bin, but now have a chance to become reused, recycled and reinvented.
