About Bethany Marett

Bethany Marett is a multi-disciplinary artist and arts educator based between Oxford and London, working primarily in printmaking, sculpture and photography. Her work draws focus to moments of beauty and quiet found in the everyday. She began making colourful reduction woodcuts during the lockdown period of 2020, being a moment when she had the space, time and opportunity to hone a new technique. The theme of isolated figures going about their lives within interiors is one which has stuck with her. In particular, light, and its impact upon the body, being a method of tracking time during endless days, has become the focal point of her new work.

Bethany graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters in Fine Art: Print in 2018, having previously studied for her BA in History of Art at The University of York. She is the recipient of various awards including a bursary from A-N & Arts Council England in 2020, the Chelsea Arts Club Trust in 2019, and the Almacantar Studio Award in 2018. She exhibits regularly and is an elected member of The London Group and Greenwich Printmakers co-operative, and her work is held in international private and public collections including the V&A, University of Calgary and Scarborough Art Gallery.
