About Olivia Bouzyk

Olivia Bouzyk is a young artist based in Camberwell and a keyholder at Thames-Side Print Studio. She completed an MA Fine Art Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, London and previously a BA History of Art at UCL, London.

Olivia’s practice centres around the fundamental dialogue between line, form and colour and echoes the variety of interpretations she produces from her surrounding environment. She balances the different vibrations and tensions between these three elements to produce a harmonious image.

From the colour combinations of the physical environment to her thoughts and feelings when producing the work, there is no prescribed, set way she constructs her work, and it can take any form, there are no restrictions.

During her undergraduate degree Olivia was able to explore her interest in medieval illuminated manuscripts, which she continued exploring in her research during my master’s degree. Medieval illuminated manuscripts provided an important reference to centre her research on. She was unable to understand the text, and this formed a different style of reading. She focussed on the bold use of colour, abstract forms and definitive line and they served as a useful contextual reference for her work and practice, even now that she has completed the MA. This research prompted the creation of her own language of abstract forms.
