About Sally McKay

The moving figure, rhythm and energy are central to Sally McKay’s practice. Focusing on live performance and rehearsals, principally dance as her stimulus, she captures fleeting moments of movement through sketching figures in real time. The drawings and paintings made in front of the dancers in movement, inform her printmaking practice, taking them through to etchings and monoprints.   Sally regularly exhibits in solo and group exhibitions. Her work is held in public and private collections including the V&A, Martha Graham Dance Company, NYC and Siobhan Davies Studios, London.   Sally trained at Goldsmiths, University of London, gaining an honours degree in Fine Art & Dance and a post-graduate diploma in Printmaking. She holds an MA Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School, 2002. Her studio is based at Thames-Side Studios, she runs a weekly adult art class on site and leads art projects at UK festivals.
