About Grace Hailstone

Grace Hailstone’s work is rooted in the subject of surreal and imagined landscapes – caves, volcanic lands, and geological forms, often linked to lived experiences and memories of places. Her process starts with making drawings in tandem with music, in a state of reverie. Using printmaking techniques including etching, linocut and wood engraving, Grace creates images with contrasting lines and shapes and considered introduction of colours and textures, interpreting the experience of landscapes suspended between reality and fiction.

Grace studied in the UK and Paris with a BA(hons) and MA degrees, and has shown her work in the UK and in the USA. She was selected as Bankside Banner Artist for Shakespeare’s Globe theatre in London (2019-20).
